This brief clip was taken at a Korean Buddhist family ritual that I stumbled upon. Attracted by the sound of chanting, I came upon the temple, and was then enthusiastically invited in. The hours-long ritual involved extensive chanting and prostrations in the direction of an altar to the the Buddha, one to the deities, and a third to the attendant’s recently-deceased ancestors. Afterward, items on the ancestors altar that looked like pillows made of paper were carried outside and burned (as depicted in the video).
